Wellington Gold Award Ceremony 2016
On Saturday 14th May 85 young people were presented their Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Hillary Award by Lt Gen The Rt Hon Sir Jerry Mateparae at Government House.
Congratulations to everyone to all our Gold Awardees!
"The Duke of Edinburgh's Hillary Award has been very rewarding. The main thing it has taught me is resilience. Even when it got tough, I knew that I had a sense of achievement coming. I have done and achieved things that I never thought I would. Overall The Award has made me a better person."
Charlotte Carson of Napier Girls' High School
"One highlight of mine was during the Gold expedition in the Arthur's Pass area. We managed to rack up 70 km in four days and 36 river crossings in total. Everyone was stoked, but the aftermath wasn't too good - coming home with swollen feet is one thing I will never forget. With the Award comes the experience of a lifetime. I would highly recommend it to anyone as it is well worth it."
Clayton Amer, who completed his Award through The Joshua Foundation.
