Our wonderful Kate is leaving us to explore the world so we need a new Office Support person for 20 hours a week - could it be you? Check out the role on Trade Me:

Welcome to our four new Board Members - Andrea Duncan (Auckland), Ken Hames (Northland), Simon McDermott (Rolleston) and Maxine Moana-Tuwhangai (Ngaruawahia) - we're delighted to have you with us and excited about what each of you will bring to the Award. Thanks also to outgoing Board Member Jillian Friedlander (pictured left with Her Excellency Dame Patsy Reddy, Governor-General of New Zealand, and her husband, Sir David Gascoigne), for the dedication and enthusiasm she demonstrated during her time on the Board. You will be missed!

In a New Zealand first, a youth offender gets the opportunity to turn his life around by working towards his Duke of Edinburgh's Gold Award - while still inside Christchurch Men's Prison. Our thanks to the Friedlander Foundation and the Joshua Foundation whose support ensures that the Award programme can be delivered to this offender and others '"inside the wire'', to give them a fighting chance of staying out of the prison system once they leave.

The results of a recent pilot study in Australia show that improvements to an Award participant’s self-confidence, ability to cope with change (resilience), leadership, overall effectiveness and active involvement could be directly attributed to participation in the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.
