Auckland Sea Kayaks specialise in marine-based journeys for all levels of the Duke of Edinburgh HIllary Award. We use a progression model that trains, educates and empowers students to explore the outdoors safely and independently. We have supported many schools and students in fulfilling the Duke of Edinburgh requirements in a safe, fun and professional manner, and fully embrace the fact that not all learning happens in the classroom. Our goal is for students to gain a greater awareness of the world around them and understand the importance of protecting it. For the Adventurous Journey section, students need a keen sense of adventure and discovery as they embark on a journey of exploration. By getting out of their comfort zone they’ll have the opportunity to learn more about the environment, develop greater self-confidence and teamworking skills that will benefit them as adults. Most of all, these are trips that they’ll never forget or regret.
Auckland Sea Kayaks are an accredited provider of the Adventurous Journey section of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Hillary Award, with the option to do either a full sea kayaking expedition, or an expedition including both sea kayaking and sailing. They also offer Gold Residential opportunities.
This is a great way to fulfil the requirements for the Adventurous Journey. Auckland Sea Kayaks have worked with many schools to achieve this in a fun, safe and professional manner. Our aim of this aspect of the Award is to encourage young people to develop an awareness of the environment and the importance of protecting it.
