Mason Stretch - Board Member
Mason is an experienced and successful secondary school principal who is passionate about creating environments for staff and students to excel.
He brings to the Board a perspective of someone who has delivered the Award to rangatahi for over twenty years within a secondary school setting. As an Award Centre Co-ordinator he runs the expedition section for students completing their Silver and Bronze Awards. Mason also brings a broader education background and governance experience through his work as a principal. He is deeply passionate about what the Award can offer our rangatahi around citizenship, personal growth and character development.
Mason has served as the Principal of Cromwell College since 2008. Through the collaborative efforts of a great team of staff, Board, and community they have led improvements in academic achievement, engagement and wellbeing evidenced by successive positive ERO reviews in 2011, 2014 and 2019. Prior to his current role, Mason was the Assistant Principal at John McGlashan College in Dunedin.
For Mason it is an honour to share his skills, knowledge and passion for the Award to support its effective governance. His priority is to see the Award thrive as a relevant, exciting, and valuable personal development pathway for our rangatahi to build skills, confidence, and an understanding of community and character.
