Girls’ Brigade

Girls’ Brigade New Zealand run two exciting programmes just for girls. Traditional Girls’ Brigade companies and iconz4girlz units are located around New Zealand. Girls’ Brigade is an international Christian movement for girls aged 5 – 18. Groups meet weekly after school or in the early evening for activities, games and devotions. Outings, camps, adventure sports and international events offer girls opportunities to enjoy challenges, grow friendships, learn new skills, and strengthen faith: all while having fun!

If you attend Girls Brigade, your programme activities may count towards your Award. Girls Brigade have an active Award Unit in Waikato, so if you live in that area you may be able to connect with a Girls Brigade Award Leader.  You can only claim Recognition of Prior Learning (RPA) if you are doing your Award through Waikato’s Girls Brigade Award Unit.

If you are not based in Waikato, you can still use your Girls Brigade activities towards your Award. You will need to provide your Award Leader with information on how your programme activities meet criteria for your Award sections and find an adult at Girls Brigade to be your Assesor.

Note that the requirements of the Award must be met, so you may need additional activity time to complete your Award. This could be in the activity you are already doing and/or another activity.
