Sir Peter Blake MERC is New Zealand’s leading charity in providing life changing marine environmental education and outdoor experiences for New Zealanders since 1990.
We offer a range of residential or off-site engaging educational experiences to cater to the individual needs of our Award participants. You are able to choose from half day experiences, full day experiences or multi-day experiences. These are run by qualified and passionate MERC staff dedicated to fulfilling our vision of being New Zealand’s recognised leader in marine environmental outdoor education, while also providing you with an unforgettable team experience!

Our programmes align with the kakariki journey and incorporate environmental education and stewardship elements.
Sir Peter Blake MERC Leaders in Training Programme. This is an exciting new opportunity for any young leaders or those looking to complete The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award Aotearoa NZ / Hillary Award Gold Residential. (16-20years). This will be a week-long program that is designed to push you out of your comfort zone and learn more about yourself and your leadership style. As a participant in this program, you will be working alongside our experienced team to develop your knowledge/skills in various outdoor activities. During the week you will not only be a participant, but you will also learn how our instructors run their experiences and build your own toolset to develop and run a day you designed at the end of the week (alongside an instructor).
