Award Level Criteria

There are three levels to the Award—Bronze, Silver and Gold—and each level has four specific sections that participants need to complete activities in (plus a fifth at Gold level).

At-a-glance guide to completing the Award

An average of one hour per week on each activity section is required. However you can log up to a maximum of 4 hours every 28 days if your activity only happens fortnightly or monthly. Development and regular progress must be shown and all activities must be completed by the participant’s 25th birthday.

Starting age
14 years

*Flexibility - A young person, aged 13, who is part of a peer group where the majority are 14 or older can register for the Bronze Award with their peers.

Length
Minimum of 6 months

Section Major
Complete an additional 3 months in one section.

Preparation and Training

Practice Journey
Minimum 1 day and 1 night

Qualifying Journey
Minimum 2 days and 1 night

Silver Learn more

Starting age
15 years (or as soon as you have completed Bronze)

Length
Minimum of 6 months

Section Major (if without Bronze)
Complete an additional 6 months in one Section.

16 years (or as soon as you have completed Silver)

* Gold cannot be achieved until you're 16
