Brigitte Windley - Board Member
I am currently a Coroner based in Wellington. Prior to appointment as a judicial officer in 2016, I had twenty years of legal practice in a variety of roles in private law firm and in-house capacities, predominantly investigative in nature. I hold a Bachelor of Law and Master of Law degrees.
I believe that being a board member provides me with an opportunity to contribute in a tangible way to a positive and highly effective programme that builds self-confidence, practical skills, tenacity, resilience and sense of community, thereby improving the outcomes and futures of young people.
As a former Duke of Edinburgh’s Hillary Award participant, I was fortunate enough to be presented my Gold Award by the Duke of Edinburgh personally. But more significantly, the skills and personal growth that I gained in undertaking the Award programme have served me well in my career and other endeavours.
My current and previous roles have given me proven skills and experience in due diligence, accountability, and compliance. I am adept at evaluating complex circumstances, identifying risk and finding workable solutions with buy-in from stakeholders and other interested parties.
I have familiarity with the fundamental principles of good governance: a clear purpose and strategy, demonstrated due diligence and strategic thinking, ethical decision making and accountability, and processes to ensure compliance with duties and obligations. Moreover, good governance is critical to long-term sustainability.
Brigitte is a Bronze, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Hillary Award holder.
