Kākāriki Pathway

Voluntary Service – clean up

Kākāriki Pathway

Kiwi Participants are the only Award Participants in the world who have the opportunity to select an Award Pathway. A Pathway is a chance to put a particular lens or focus on the activities you choose for your Award.

Kākāriki is an environmentally focused pathway.

Comprehensive list of Kākāriki options

Participants select a Kākāriki pathway at any level of the Award. The activity achievement requirements remain exactly the same, the difference is that two of the main sections - Voluntary Service and Skills - must have an environmental focus.

The curation of the Kākāriki Journey was directly inspired by Award participant feedback. When asked what issues they cared about most in 2020, Kiwi Participants put climate change and protecting the environment at the top of their lists – and so, the Kākāriki Journey was born.

Once participants have completed their Award, they will receive a record of their Kākāriki pathway as well as their formal Award certificate.
