Hato Hone St John

St John is run and staffed by people who are passionate about serving their communities and caring for fellow New Zealanders. We are a charity and have a volunteer ethos, with paid and volunteer members working side by side towards our company mission:

We step forward, when help is needed. For better. For life.
Ka tū ake, hei kaiāwhina. Mō te pai. Mō te orange.

If you volunteer with St John, your mahi may count towards your Award. St John have a National Award Unit. Once you sign up you’ll have access to an Award Leader from St John to help you get started. Please note, this Award Leader might not be your Division Leader.

If you chose not to join a St John Award Unit, you can still use your programme acitivites towards gaining your Award. You will need to provide your Award Leader with information on how your programme activities meet criteria for your Award sections and find an adult at St John to be your Assesor.

Note that the requirements of the Award must be met, so you may need additional activity time to complete your Award. This could be in the activity you are already doing and/or another activity.

Vision | Te Whāinga Matua

Mihi mō te Manaaki Ora | We are looking to the future with Manaaki Ora as our roadmap. Manaaki Ora has five strategic aims at its core, which will act as signposts on our long-term roadmap, providing us with direction over the coming years. These aims cover our commitment to improving hauora Māori, health equity for all and community partnering. We will also empower our people to deliver innovative local solutions while building sustainability for future generations. The final strategic aim, to create a place where everyone belongs, is critical to Manaaki Ora’s success and will enable our other four aims to be fully realised.

Purpose | Te Koronga

Our kaupapa or purpose is ‘to make life-changing differences with our communities. This purpose sits alongside our vision, mission, and values to show our place in Aotearoa New Zealand.
