Outdoor Training New Zealand (OTNZ)

Outdoor Training New Zealand are a group of dedicated volunteers who will give you the practical skills you need to have an enjoyable and safe time in the New Zealand Outdoors. All of their Instructors are experienced in the outdoors and have industry recognised qualifications.

Outdoor Training NZ has been formed by dedicated industry standard qualified outdoor Instructors who over many years have proved how important practical and theoretical instruction is before you venture into the outdoors.

OTNZ experience shows that every person who goes through one of their quality courses will have a multiplying effect on the community they serve; this is due in part to the effect they can and will have on leaders in schools, tramping clubs, youth groups, and many other outdoor organisations.

The team at Outdoor Training New Zealand (OTNZ) are dedicated to providing high-quality, cost-effective bushcraft instruction to give you the skills for greater safe enjoyment of the outdoors.

They are an Accredited Activity Provider for the Adventurous Journey Training, Adventurous Journey and Gold Residential sections of your Award. They are also an Open Award Centre.
OTNZ run specific courses to meet the requirements of the following sections of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Hillary Award:

• Bronze Adventurous Journey
• Silver Adventurous Journey
• Gold Adventurous Journey

OTNZ has a list of their upcoming Award programmes advertised on their website here. It’s as simple as finding the right programme for you and signing up.

Vision | Te Whāinga Matua

It is our philosophy that although you can learn facts from books, videos, and the internet about how to have a safe and enjoyable time in the New Zealand outdoors, that there is no substitute for developing personal skills by practical experience under the guidance of highly experienced outdoors people.

Purpose | Te Koronga

Our experience shows that every person who goes through one of our quality courses will have a multiplying effect on the community we serve; this is due in part to the effect we can and will have on leaders in schools, tramping clubs, youth groups, and many other outdoor organisations.
