Outward Bound New Zealand

Outward Bound, located in the Marlborough Sounds, helps you reach your full potential through challenge in the outdoors. Their classrooms are the mountains, bush and waterways of this beautiful corner of New Zealand.

Outward Bound is a non-profit organisation – their aim is to help create better people, better communities, and a better world. People of all ages, cultures, abilities and backgrounds are welcome at Outward Bound.

Outward Bound offer a number of courses that you can use towards your Adventurous Journey Training, Adventurous Journey and Gold Residential sections. Please use the flowcharts to help you work out what your course can be credited towards.

Courses:
21-day courses – Mind, Body and Soul 16 – 18 years and Classic Course 18 – 26 years

8-day course – Compact Courses

Adapted Courses for people living with impairments and disabilities:

8-day Course – Horizons, Activate and Youth Active

Please note: The Leaps & Bounds Activate Course cannot be used for your Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

Before your course:
Check the flowcharts above for the course you want to go on. Set this up in your Online Record Book and send to your Award Leader for approval before you attend your course.

Please note: The instructions in the link above are for the 21 day course. If you are doing a shorter course then please adapt the dates/days to suit the course you are doing eg practice journey use dates for day 2/3

After your course:
Scan or photograph the certificate you received on the last day of your course.
Upload the jpeg (20MB maximum) as your assessor report to the relevant sections on your ORB record.
The certificate you receive provides evidence of course completion and replaces the need for a separate assessor report.
