Based in the Tasman district, Whenua Iti Outdoors delivers experiential learning programmes that focus on personal and social development. It is their mission to achieve positive change in individuals and communities.
Whenua Iti Outdoors is an Open Award Centre for the Upper South Island. This means if you live in this area, you can sign up with Whenua Iti Outdoors to do your Award. You will be assigned an Award Leader who will assist you. They encourage you to sign up for the Kākāriki Pathway as part of your Award. This gives your Award an environmental focus and can be applied to all levels. WIO can help achieve your Residential Project component and can provide ideas for your Skills and Voluntary Service too.
Whenua Iti Outdoors are also an Accredited Award Provider for the Adventurous Journey Training, Adventurous Journey and Gold Residential sections of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Hillary Award. You can complete your Adventurous Journey practice and/or qualifier and Gold Residential through Whenua Iti Outdoors no matter where you are registered to achieve the Award. They have a wide variety of options at Bronze, Silver and Gold. Activities can include tramping, kayaking, caving, bush survival and mountain biking in any of our stunning, local National Parks.
